This is NOT a coin. This telephone counter was used for several years in Italy. The value of the counter, before it disappear from circulation, was 200 lire. In this public telephones, at the beginning, you could use only this telephone counter and after all coins in circulation. Before the advent of mobiles phones was normal to use public telephones. Many people had this counter with them and was used like a coin! You could buy staff with counters, so it wasn't a coin but you could use it like a coin.
